Privacy

What this site collects when you visit it or write to me, what happens to it, and how to have it removed.

Who is responsible

This site is run by Bart Dunweg, a digital product designer in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. I am responsible for the personal data described here, and every question about it goes to hello@bartdunweg.com.

Visiting the site

There are no cookies on this site, no advertising and no tracking across other sites.

Your theme

If you switch between light and dark, the choice is kept in your browser's local storage so the next page opens the same way. It never leaves your device.

Visitor numbers

Vercel Web Analytics counts page views without cookies and without storing anything that identifies you. Vercel Speed Insights measures how quickly pages load, in the same way. I see totals, not people.

Hosting

The site runs on Vercel, in Frankfurt. Like any web host, Vercel handles your IP address and browser details to deliver each page and to keep the site safe from abuse, and keeps short-lived request logs under its own privacy policy.

Fonts and almost every image come from this domain. A few, such as the cover of what I am listening to on the About page, load straight from the service they belong to, like Spotify, which then sees your IP address as any server does when you ask it for a file.

Links to LinkedIn, Instagram and the other profiles are ordinary links: nothing is loaded from those sites until you follow one.

Writing to me

The chat on the homepage asks for your name, your email address, what you are getting in touch about and your message.

Where it goes

Your message is delivered to my inbox by the email service Resend, and you get a copy at the address you gave. Resend keeps a record of the mail it sends for a limited time under its own policy.

What is kept

The site itself stores none of it. To stop the form being flooded, the server counts sends per IP address over one minute. That count lives only in the running server's memory, is never written to a disk or a log, and is gone when the server restarts.

I keep the conversation in my mailbox for as long as it is useful to you or to me, and delete it when you ask.

What it is used for

Only to answer you and to follow up on what you asked about. It is never sold, shared for marketing or added to a mailing list.

Your rights

You can ask what I hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how it is used, by emailing hello@bartdunweg.com. I answer within a month, and usually within a few days.

If you think I handle your data wrongly, you can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (opens in a new tab).
